Scholarship & Academics
Our primary commitment is to stimulating scholarship and achieving academic excellence.
The Sigma Chapter Scholarship Plan
We treat academics as a core commitment. Our formal scholarship plan is designed to provide accountability and resources, ensuring our chapter GPA remains competitive and each member meets his academic potential.
Jesus Gonzalez | $10,000 Award
"Winning the $10,000 National Scholarship award was a major milestone, but it wasn't just a personal win—it was a win for our Chapter. At the Sigma Chapter house, academic excellence isn't just an expectation; it's the culture. From upperclassmen tutoring me in my hardest major-specific courses to the structured study hours that kept me disciplined, this brotherhood provided the environment I needed to represent our chapter at the national level. I attribute my academic success directly to the support and accountability of Phi Kappa Sigma."
— Jesus Gonzalez, National Scholarship Recipient
Four Steps to Academic Success
1. Mandatory Study Hours
All new members and any member falling below the 3.0 GPA threshold are required to complete supervised study hours weekly in the Chapter House or designated library space.
2. Academic Mentorship
New members are paired with an upperclassman in their major or college for tutoring, course advice, and study strategy guidance throughout their first year.
3. Resources and Incentives
The chapter maintains a test bank archive and hosts faculty dinners. Members earning a 3.5+ GPA receive financial rewards or specialized social privileges each semester.
4. Academic Probation
Any member falling below the University's minimum requirement or the Chapter's minimum of 2.75 GPA faces social probation until they restore their standing. This ensures accountability for the entire chapter.
