Core Values & Principles
The ethical foundation of the Sigma Chapter, guided by our Seven Core Values.
The Seven Core Values of Phi Kappa Sigma
These seven values serve as our ethical guide, translating the core mission of Phi Kappa Sigma into actionable character development. Commitment to these principles is essential for every member's personal and professional integrity.
TRUST
The foundation of all relationships, based on belief in oneself and others. Trust is earned through experience and is the cornerstone of our brotherhood.
HONOR
Staying true to a set of higher standards and morals, especially in the face of adversity. Membership is a commitment to leading an honorable life.
RESPECT
Beginning with self-respect and extending to the practice of the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. It is the acceptance of the ideals of others.
KNOWLEDGE
The pursuit of thought, theory, and principles, following in the footsteps of our founding fathers. Knowledge leads to self-discovery and the improvement of society.
WISDOM
The application of knowledge and past experience to make sound decisions regardless of the situation. Wisdom forms a bond between the young and the old.
RESPONSIBILITY
Being reliable in fulfilling obligations to the Fraternity and personal duties, and enduring the consequences of one's actions. Responsibility is essential for leadership.
INTEGRITY
The inner foundation for holding true to all our values. Integrity guides us to make the best decisions and defines our character in the public sphere.
“Brotherhood is More Than Skin Deep”
This maxim embodies our commitment to selecting members based on the worth of their character, regardless of race, creed, or wealth—a principle enshrined since 1860.
